ARTICLE: Future Games Show August Recap

Take a look at these games releasing sometime in the future, some closer than you think.

  • Die by the Blade
    A 1v1 action fighting game where you fight for your life with various melee weapons as one hit will kill you. Taking inspiration from Dark Souls, Bushido Blade, and Way of the Samurai, Die by the Blade puts an emphasis on parrying and countering attacks.
  • BpM: Bullets per Minute
    A rhythm action FPS roguelike game where you must shoot, jump, and dodge to the beat of the music. You’ll be going through randomly generated dungeons filled with items, weapons, and abilities to help you reach the end and defeat all the bosses. This is set to release sometime in September.
  • Quantum Error
    A new cosmic horror FPS game where a research facility has recently been attacked by an unknown entity. You, and your partner, have been tasked with saving as many people as you can. However, once you two get there, the situation is anything but normal.
  • LOTR: Gollum
    Lord of the Rings: Gollum’s goal is to expand on and demystify the Gollum character after he was corrupted by the One Ring of Power. It has been described as having a mix of parkour and stealth, with it not being combat-focused apart from having the ability to stealth kill if the situation absolutely needs it.
  • Song of Horror
    Now coming to the PS4 and Xbox One on October 29, Song of Horror is a survival horror adventure where you must explore cursed places where unseen spirits and lost souls linger.
  • Love – A Puzzle Box Filled with Stories
    A puzzle game about finding things we’ve lost in ourselves and the people who helped us along the way. This is set to release October 21.
  • Smalland
    After waking up one day, you find yourself shrunken to the size of a pebble and left in the wilderness. Before you figure out why and who did this to you, you must try to survive against things that you never had to before.
  • Sable
    Join Sable on her rite of passage as she travels across vast deserts, landscapes littered with abandoned spaceships, monumental ruins, and encounter other nomads while exploring each location you visit and maybe solve puzzles.
  • Tenderfoot Tactics
    With a team of goblins that was granted magic by an ancient spirit by your side, you and your team will be able to explore the vast world, battle with an easy to grasp combat system (with no damage ranges), and take on the consequences for how your magic affects the world around you.
  • Puyopuyo Tetris 2
    PuyoPuyo Tetris is returning with another game. While this will include modes from the previous game, this will add a new story to Adventure Mode, a Skill Battle Mode, and an expanded Online Mode where you can battle three other platers.
  • Mafia Definitive Edition
    After Tommy Angelo, a can driver, finds himself in a run-in with the mod, he is thrust into the deadly underworld where he falls into the Salieri family. While initially uneasy, the rewards is too big for him to back out. You’ll be able to pick up this edition, which was made from the ground up, on September 25.
  • The Survivalists
    Suddenly finding yourself stranded on an island, you and others must find a way to survive long enough to make it your home, explore, uncover the island’s secrets, and complete quests. This will be arriving later this year, but you can pre-purchase it now.
  • Lemnis Gate
    A turn-based combat FPS game where the mechanic of being in a 25 second time loop will dictate who wins and who loses. So make use of your unique abilities and study your opponent to get a win.
  • Monster Harvest
    Mixing together a monster collecting RPG and a farming sim, you’ll be growing your crops to use in battle with the various Planimal companions you can find and capture.
  • Gibbous: A Cthulhu Adventure
    Coming to the Nintendo Switch on October 28, you’ll set on an adventure with a talking cat named Gibbous and two other protagonists as they explore a Lovecraft-inspired world and unravel ancient conspiracies.
  • Mini Motor Racing
    Coming to the Switch on September 17, you’ll be able to jump into a nitro fueled vehicle and tackle career mode or take it up with others online or locally.
  • Crown Trick
    A roguelike turn based RPG adventure where you must take every action into account and make use of a wide variety of weapons, abilities, skills, and relics to make your way through the dungeons you find yourself trapped in and find the truth behind the Nightmare Realm.
  • Inkulinati
    A turn-based strategy inspired by 700 years old medieval marginalia where you’ll lead your illustrated animal army on various quests, enounters, challenges, and battles against medieval celebrities.
  • Werewolf: The Apocalypse – Heart of the Forest
    Inspired by the tabletop rpg Werewolf: The Apocalypse, you’ll play as Maia as she arrives at Bialowieza Forest looking for her family history.
  • Chinatown Detective Agency
    A cybernoir point and click adventure where you manage your detective agency and use real world research to solve cases while unraveling a global conspiracy.
  • Deathground
    A solo or 3 player co-op survival horror where players are thrown into a desperate battle for survival against AI controlled dinosaurs.
  • Marvel Avengers
    Coming out on September 4, you’ll assemble your team of Earth’s mightiest heroes and live your superhero dream where you’ll follow a cinematic story detailing a mysterious enemy causing massive devastation.
  • Cris Tales
    An indie love letter to classic JRPGS where you can peer into the past, act in the present, and watch your choices change the future all on one screen.
  • Watch Dogs Legion
    We’re given a deeper look into Legions detailing how you’ll be recruiting others onto your team by convincing them to join by helping them. A new possible recruit was revealed to be a bee keeper, who can send out a swarm of bees, and her recruit mission was shown to give future players a taste on how others can play out.
  • Epic Chef
    Take on the role of Zest as he embarks on a culinary journey to farm, craft, and cook against other rival chefs to become a legend.
  • Assassins Creed Valhalla
    The narrative director jumped in to give a deeper dive into the Daughters of Lerion, the Black Shuck, and The Lost Drengr of Ragnar Lothbrok.
  • Medieval Dynasty
    On September 17, you’ll jump into the role of a poor, but skilled, hunter and farmer that is set to take his fate into his own hands. You’ll be able to build an outpost in Europe during the Middle Ages and develop it into a village.
  • Morbid The Seven Acolytes
    A horrorpunk action RPG filled with Lovecraftian horrors and Cronenbergian gore where you set out to defeat the Seven Acolytes. If you’re someone that picks up Souls-like games, this will fill in that isometric hole.
  • Game Dev Tycoon
    Coming to the Switch on October 8, You’ll replay the history of the gaming industry by starting your own development company in the 80s.
  • Gone Viral
    An over-the-top action game with roguelite elements where you fight for your life in a prison arena meant to entertain the audience. Add kills to your count as you plan your escape.
  • Mars Horizon
    Lead a major space agency as you guide humanity to Mars in a strategy simulation game created with support from the European Space Agency.
  • Carto
    You’ll be able to explore mysterious lands and help people you come across as you travel by shifting the world around you. This is coming on October 27.
  • Ring of Pain
    A roguelike dungeon crawler card game where the dungeon is made up of a deck of cards arranged in a ring. You’ll be able to dive into these dungeons on October 15.
  • Balsa: Model Flight Sim
    Design, build, fly, and battle with detailed model aircrafts in career mode where you’ll be tackling challenges, play in sandbox mode, or go up against other players in paintball.
  • Haak
    Releasing on September 16 in early access, this medoridvania inspired action platformer will put you in an apocalyptic wasteland where you need to explore, develop your skills, solve mysterious, and fight with the mysterious organization that was established.
  • Ikenfell
    Take control of a group of troublesome magic students exploring their school in this turn-based tactical RPG where you’ll need to use timing mechanics to power up your spells and block attacks. This is finally releasing on October 8.
  • Going Medieval
    First releasing in early access, you’ll be able to construct a multi-story fortress in a land already claimed by the wilderness and defend against raids to keep your villagers safe and happy.
  • Rip Them Off
    An interesting looking puzzle game where you’ll be picking your stores that the public can’t resist paying money in and earning your way up the corporate ladder by overcoming difficult challenges.
  • Shattered
    Currently in early access, you’ll become a Wanderer piecing together the fragments of reality and retrace the fall of civilization through skill based combat, platforming, and the testimonies of survivors (which can be true or false).
  • Olija
    Play as a man shipwrecked and trapped in the mysterious country of Terraphage armed only with a legendary harpoon to get him and other castaways off this hostile country.
  • Scourgebringer
    Currently in early access, but the full release being on October 21, dive into this fast-paced free-moving roguelite platformer where you’ll explore the unknown and slash your way through ancient machines.
  • Disc Room
    I hope you like getting sliced in half as you’ll be exploring a sprawling intergalatic slaughterhouse after a giant disc appears around Jupiter. You can try out the demo know if you can’t wait for the full release.
  • Struggling
    A physics-based co-op platformer where you and a friend will have to control the arms of this weird abomination and guide it through a world ready to kill it. You can pick this up now.
  • Operation Tango
    Be ready to pair up with a friend as both of you will pair up as a special agent and an elite hacker working together to bring a high-tech global menace to its knees.
  • Crash Bandicoot 4
    Due to release on October 2, Crash and Coco must unite and work with the Quantum Masks to restore order to the multiverse after Neo Cortex, Nefarious Tropy, and Uka Uka escape from their space-time prison.
  • You Can Pet the Dog VR
    If you don’t have a dog in real life, you can instead pet and play with one in VR with this game. You can pick this up now.
  • Rune 2
    The self-proclaimed “definitive open-world RPG” you’re a warrior chosen to save all of Midgard, but you’ll have to battle various legendary creatures, beasts, and other warriors to do it.
  • Serious Sam 4
    Reigniting the series on September 24, you’ll be returning to the series as the full force of Mental’s hordes spread across the world to ravage ravages the broken remains of the beaten civilization.
  • Sherlock Holmes Chapter 1
    You’ll finally be able to play a young Sherlock Holmes during a time when he’s struggling to prove himself while navigating an exotic, dangerous island to investigate his mother’s death.
  • Call of the Sea
    Set in 1930 South Pacific, you’ll be able to explore a lush island paradise and figure out the secrets of a lost civilization and find your missing husband and the expedition he was on.
  • In Sound Mind
    An imaginative physiological horror game featuring frenetic puzzles, unique boss fights, and music from The Living Tombstone. You’ll eventually be able to journey through the inner workings of your own mind.
  • Second Extinction
    An intense 3 player online co-op FPS where you work as a team to take down large groups of savage mutated dinosaurs. You’ll be able to reclaim Earth sometime in September.
  • Sam and Max: This Time It’s Virtual
    As a new recruit to the freelance police, you’ll be working alongside Sam and Max in VR where you’ll go through various game types throughout the game.
  • Bright Memory Infinite
    A lightning fast fusion of FPS and action genres where you’ll combine a wide variety of skills and abilities to unleash combo attacks.
