STORY & BEGINNING:

Bastion is the first title from Supergiant Games, an original action role-playing game set in a lush imaginative world, in which players must create and fight for civilization’s last refuge as a mysterious narrator marks their every move. The narrator is rarely used in games beside cutscene in the game, but when narrator follows you through whole game telling everything you do, giving advice and giving info about items and buildings. If you think that listening of someone voice whole game is annoying, you are wrong, cause playing and listening narrator in this game has been balanced very good and its fun.

As player wakes up, narrator tell us that Bastion is place where everyone agreed to come when there is trouble. In this game the path where you will walk is falling from “sky”, walls, bricks, stands, rocks everything is falling from sky and it makes your path. After few seconds, first weapon in the game a Sledge Hammer. Another interesting thing about game is that with any weapon you can destroy almost any object, never thought that’s possible in game like Bastion. As you are destroying your path, first monster appears Gasfella, easy to kill when you have Sledge Hammer. Game has secondary and special attack or skill.

BOTTLES & UPGRADES & BASTION

Healing in this game is pretty simple, if you find fountain than you can refill your empty bottle if there is one or just pick up random bottles that will show up through level. For special attack you will need to have bottles that looks like wine bottles and for each performed special attack you will loose one bottle so be careful. Materials that you pick up through game, you can use them to upradge your weapons, for example you can use material to upgrade your sledge hammer to have 50% more damage. When you come to Bastion you will be able to build Fort, Arsenal and many other buildings. To buidl you need to find cores and than put them in monumentum. There is a teleport in Bastion from which you can choose where to fly to what world.

GRAPHIC & LEVEL DESIGN:

The game graphics are not anything special, it looks like hand-drawn graphics. Level design in this game is colorful, for example: in one level the colors will be darker, with more monsters, bosses, tight music and in the next level it looks like sun raised, colors are lighter, relaxing tunes. After few levels from the start you will find yourself in Bastion a city if we can call it, in the start Bastion will be empty with only one building and thats up to you to choose what building. To build you will see black hole or circle in which there is somekind of shape when you click on it window will pop-up with current available buildings to build.

COMBAT:

In one of first levels you will enter in two important buildings called Arsenal and Distillery. In Arsenal you are able to change your primary, secondary and special attack. In distillery you are able to buy special attacks, dont forget for destroying almost every object in game you will get fragments which with you can buy special attacks.Combat in this game is very important cause if you dont overcome combat in this game properly you will have problems against bosses and levels where there will be more than 20 monsters. If you die dont worry, just press ESC and you are alive again. To be honest I died few times and every time I just pressed the ESC button and continue the battle.

FINAL WORD:

All in all the game with simple combat and with level design that are different from the level to level (read level design paragraph for more) and level design reminds me on Final Fantasy Tactics A2 when you were going to the battle. I recomend this game to anyone who want relax with fun, colorful, imagined world.

FINAL SCORE: 7/10

From the other comments that are on this page it can be clear that there are actually numerous distinctive opinions on this topic, but I just like the way you view the scenario. Personally , i didn’t consider it like that, so I value you bringing this out. Thank you for this, it was an incredibly very good report. I search forward for your long term articles or blog posts.
